Shipping, Simplified — How “I’d Ship That” Is Changing the Game

Posted on August 6, 2025, by Matt Morelli

Shipping shouldn’t be rocket science. But for countless creators, side hustlers, and small business owners, getting a package out the door still feels like navigating a maze. That’s exactly the frustration that sparked the creation of I’d Ship That — a lean, mobile-first shipping platform built for the people traditional solutions forgot. In Part 1 of our spotlight series, U-PIC sits down with the founder of I’d Ship That, Jared Ford, to talk origin stories, underserved markets, and what it means to truly simplify shipping in a mobile-first world.

PART 1: The Origins of “I’d Ship That”

U-PIC: What inspired you to start I’d Ship That?

I’d Ship That: I launched I’d Ship That after experiencing firsthand how unnecessarily complex and expensive it was to ship packages. Especially for individuals and small businesses who aren’t shipping at enterprise scale. I just needed something simple — something that didn’t require technical knowledge, preloaded balances, or navigating a dashboard built for a logistics manager. There wasn’t a tool for people like me, so I built it.

U-PIC: What market gap were you aiming to solve?

I’d Ship That: Most platforms cater to high-volume shippers or require deep integrations. I wanted to democratize access to discounted shipping rates and make it as easy as ordering an Uber. Simple label creation, no fluff, and tools that just work. That didn’t exist — so we made it.

U-PIC: From the start, you’ve been mobile-first. Why does that matter?

I’d Ship That: Because that’s where our users live. Most of our customers are on the move — whether they’re at a pop-up event, managing inventory in a warehouse, or working from their phone at home. They don’t want to boot up a laptop to ship a package. With our app, they can generate a label in seconds. It’s fast, it’s efficient, and it meets them where they are.

U-PIC: Who is your typical user?

I’d Ship That: We’ve got a really diverse user base — Etsy sellers, Shopify merchants, side hustlers, boutique store owners, and more. Some are shipping a few items a month; others ship hundreds a week. What unites them is the need for control, speed, and a platform that doesn’t get in their way.

U-PIC: How has the platform evolved since launch?

I’d Ship That: We started with simple label generation, but quickly added tracking, address validation, rate shopping, and optional shipping insurance through U-PIC. Our subscription model scales with the user. We’re now expanding into merchant tools — like inventory management and e-commerce integrations. We want to be more than a label tool. We want to be the easiest way to manage fulfillment, period.

U-PIC:What’s your design philosophy?

I’d Ship That: It’s all about reducing friction. We focus on clarity, minimalism, and speed. We don’t believe in upsells or clutter. We build for users who don’t want to feel like they’re navigating enterprise software just to get a box out the door.
